Hashtags and trending topics can be fun — but cutting and self-harm aren’t funny. Right now there are people really struggling with the urge to hurt themselves who are trying to find better ways to deal with their feelings. Those people, and anyone going through a tough time, need our support…not our ridicule.
So if you’re outraged by a trending topic, don’t bring more attention to it. Use your tweets or posts to spread a positive message instead of giving more attention to a hurtful one. Try one of these:
#loveislouder than cutting
#loveislouder than bad trending topics
#loveislouder than disappointment
